A combination of Project Aware Clean up Day and World Tourism Day (Theme 2010: Tourism and Biodiversity)

El Gouna in cooperation with several hotels, dive centers, kite stations, schools and residents will be working
together on 2 major events around El Gouna.

Traditional Beach Clean Up:

The beach clean will take place along North Mangroovy Beach and will start around 8.30am.

The cleanup will cover a 3,000 meter stretch of beach and there will be stations for water and trash bags
as well as rubbish collections located along the route.
Buses will be organised to take helpers from Downtown and the Abu Tig Marina drop them at the meeting point.
A group photo will be organised at the end of the clean up with all the collected rubbish.

HEPCA (Hurghada Environmental Protection and Conservation Association) will be arranging a date to
visit the El Gouna Schools to give a presentation regarding the clean up.

Island clean up:
-------------------

El Gouna volunteers will be helping HEPCA clean one of the northern islands which is a protected area for turtles and nesting birds.
HEPCA will be visiting the northern islands next week to assess where exactly the cleanup will take place.

To have a most efficient clean up there will be a bulldozer on the island.
The volunteers will need for the above water cleanup old, strong shoes, long trousers and
protective clothing and a hat for the sun. HEPCA will provide gloves.
The North Islands cleanup work may be physically demanding and involve shoveling sand collected by the bulldozer into sacks.
